Named after Mohammed's companion Eyubu'l-Ensari Who died in 675 during the Arap siege of the city, the Eyup tomb and mosque was built by Mehmet II on the site where fieyh Aksemsettin Found his sepulcher in 1453. This mosque was rebuilt by Sultan Selim III in 1796.
